*1 - Flywheel marked for U.D.C. of pistons #1 & #6. Crank
motor to U.D.C. compression stroke #1 piston. Loosen clamp arm screw
and locate distributor rotor for ignition at #1 spark plug with points
just breaking contact. Tighten clamp screw.
*2 - Time ignition by #1 cylinder and stationary set of
contact points. Crank motor to U.D.C. compression stroke of #1 cylinder
as shown by flywheel mark U.D.C. Loosen clamp arm screw, locate
distributor rotor for ignition at #1 spark plug, stationary set of
points just breaking contact, Tighten clamp screw.
**Note: When checking or setting ignition timing on motors
equipped with automatic starting device, turn switch key to extreme
left. In this position ignition circuit is closed; automatic device
remains inoperative.
